Andy Serkis as Kino Loy - a floor supervisor who has spent years maintaining order and calculating his release date - delivers the speech that the entire Narkina arc was building toward. The prison's geometry (floors separated by electrified water, no way out but through) creates a thriller structure whose resolution requires collective action and individual sacrifice in a ratio the show does not sentimentalise. The scene between Kino and Cassian in which the decision is made - who will swim, what it costs, what it means - is the most politically specific dialogue the show has written. Variety called it 'the single best episode of television in 2022.' Among Andor episodes, it is the argument that the show deserves to be discussed outside franchise contexts entirely.
