The 'Bad Sisters' Season 1 finale resolves its dual-timeline structure with the precision of a showrunner who planned the architecture from the start. The past timeline (the Garvey sisters' increasingly committed attempts to murder John Paul) and the present timeline (the insurance investigators building their case) converge in a sequence that is both genuinely funny and genuinely devastating - the show's tonal achievement held to the final frame. Creator Sharon Horgan (who developed the series from a Belgian original, 'Clan') manages the reveal of what actually happened to John Paul with the structural care of the best crime comedies: it recontextualises events the audience witnessed and does so without feeling like a trick. Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, Eve Hewson, and Sharon Horgan as the five Garvey sisters have the ensemble chemistry that the show's premise absolutely required - the comedy of sisterhood, the grief of loss, and the moral horror of what the women are doing coexist without the tonal register breaking. 100% RT season. One of Apple TV+'s finest original series.
