The 12-episode season continued the anime-original narrative and was received with noticeably less enthusiasm than its predecessor. Community ratings placed it below Season 1; the compressed 12-episode runtime and structural repetition of the demon-butler conceit are the arc's primary weaknesses. The season has since been largely overtaken in fan regard by the Book of Circus arc, which returned to manga fidelity.
