Elizabeth Holmes is not written as a monster or a genius but as someone whose social intelligence exceeded her technical knowledge, and whose ambition was not separable from genuine belief in the mission she was faking. The Hulu limited series arrives in the post-WeWork moment when Silicon Valley myths of "fake it till you make it" had already been interrogated in public, and the premiere uses that context to frame Holmes not as aberration but as the extreme end of a spectrum. The formal choice to open with childhood costume foreshadowing is too on-the-nose; the performance beneath it is not.
