Sydney Morning Herald called the adaptation 'a ripper' with Hiddleston and Laurie heading a perfect cast. The finale is built around the accumulation of everything six episodes have set up: Pine's cover held across multiple close calls, Burr's intelligence operation threading bureaucratic resistance from both sides of the Atlantic, and Roper's particular brand of evil - charming, rational, genuinely dangerous. Hiddleston and Laurie's final confrontation delivers the moral accounting the series' whole structure demanded. Olivia Colman as Burr, operating through restricted intelligence channels for six hours, is given the most satisfying resolution in the episode's last act. The finale earns its closure.
